Control of Transport Networks

The 50,000 km long German high-pressure gas pipeline network transports up to 30 times the amount of energy that is produced by all German nuclear power plants. The GASLAB aims to develop algorithms to predict the situation of the German gas network during the next 24 hours and to compute optimized control plans.

Critical situations should be detected early on to improve the security of supply without extending the network. At the same time, it will be possible to utilize the available capacities more dynamically and through ensuring the safe supply of gas-power-stations during times of peak-load allow the Energy turnover to happen.
